Fishing this week

LITTLE ROCK — HOT SPOTS1. ARKANSAS RIVER (LITTLE ROCK POOL) Bream are biting well on crickets. Crappie are biting well on minnows. Bass are in their summer pattern and are biting well along the jetties, drops and brush piles.

Catfishing is excellent using cut shad, skipjack and rice slicks.

2. BEAVER LAKE Black bass are biting

well at night on spinnerbaits and large, dark plastic worms. Bass fishing during theday is good with shaky heads, Carolina rigs,

and top-water lures. Catfishing is good with

chicken liver and prepared bait on rod and reels, and live bait on limb lines, trotlines and jugs. Bream are biting well on crickets and redworms fished in 4-10 feet of water. Crappie are biting well at night

on minnows fished under a light. Stripers are moving back to the lower section of the lake and are feeding.. 3. DEGRAY LAKE Crappie are biting on 2-inch

Tennessee shad grubs or tubes on a 1/16 ounce jig head fished near fish attractors in midlake. The best bite is early in the morning in 20-25 feet of water. Bass are biting on Texas rigged worms, Baby Brush Bogs or Carolina-rigged worms fished around the deeper points and humps in midlake. The best

colors are red shad and green pumpkin. Crickets or worms fished in 6-10 feet of water are catching a lot of fish. Catfishing is good at night on trotlines baited with live bream or big minnows.

4. LAKE MAUMELLE Black bass are biting well on floating worms, jerk

baits and spinnerbaits fished in 4-12 feet of water around the edges of

the grass and off the points. White bass are biting well on small crappie jigs, Rooster Tails and minnows fished in the North shore area. Crappie are biting on 1/32-ounce jigs and minnows and shad-colored grubs fished in 15-20 feet of water. Bream are biting excellently on crickets and redworms fished off the breakwater about 12-20 feet deep. Catfishing is excellent on trotlines using cut shad, bream and prepared bait. Saugeye are biting excellently in the early morning and late afternoon. Trolling small crappie jigs, crankbaits and minnows around the points has produced nice catches.
