Saline County libraries offering monoprint art class

— Benton Elementary School art teacher Tane Steed will teach the art of making suminagashi monoprints at 6 p.m. Monday at the Bob Herzfeld Memorial Library in Benton and at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Mabel Boswell Memorial Library in Bryant. Registration is required, and all materials will be provided.

Suminagashi is an art in which Sumi ink is floated on the surface of water and transferred to a sheet of paper, creating a unique monoprint.

“Craft classes in general have been a big hit at both libraries,” Bryant Branch Manager Brad Crumby said. “The more classes we offer, the more people request.”

Applications to teach a craft class at the Saline County Library can beobtained at either library location or online at www.saline.lib.ar.us.

To sign up for suminagashi, call (501) 778-4766 or (501) 847-2166.
