University honored for service

— The Corporation for National and Community Service named Harding University to the 2009 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for the exemplary service contributions of the school’s students, faculty and staff in meeting critical community and national needs. This is the fourth consecutive year Harding has received the honor.

During the 2008-09 academic year, nearly 6,500 students, faculty and staff contributed more than 89,000 hours of service to numerous projects.

More than 700 colleges and universities across thenation were recognized for exemplary, innovative and effective community service programs. Harding is one of only five schools honored in Arkansas. A full list is available at www.nationalservice.

The Honor Roll is administered by Learn and Serve America at the Corporation for National and Community Service in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Education, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, Campus Compact and the American Council on Education.
