Bono Lake project expected to be finished in 2011

— Warm, dry weather has allowed construction work on a 100-acre lake project in northeastern Arkansas to progress in recent weeks.

The Bono Lake project originally was set to be finished by October, but county officials now say they think it will be done by next summer. The project’s cost is about $3.84 million.

The project will include the construction of an 80-foot dam, which was slowed after workers found unsuitable soil at the site where they planned to build it. County Road Superintendent L.M. Duncan says construction crews are moving better dirt to the site for stabilization purposes.

The lake will be about two miles northeast of Bono. Plans call for the lake to be 40 feet deep.
