Ex-Fordyce police chief's appeal rejected

The Arkansas Court of Appeals has rejected the appeal of a former Fordyce police chief who was convicted of killing his wife.

Paul Douglas Gill was convicted in September 2008 and sentenced to 40 years in prison for first-degree murder in the March 2007 shooting death of Sandra Kaye Gill.

Gill argued that police botched evidence, that evidence didn’t show whether the death was a homicide or suicide and that proper testing was not done.

The appeals court rejected each argument in an opinion released Wednesday.

Gill was police chief in Fordyce in the 1990s. He worked for Georgia Pacific at the time of his wife’s death.
