Man survives plane crash in Little River County

— Little River County authorities say a man escaped serious injury after crashing his plane into an empty home while attempting to take off.

Sheriff Danny Russell says the man was able to walk away from the crash in Wilton — just north of Ashdown. Russell says the man had cuts to his forehead and was taken to an Ashdown hospital.

His name and condition were not released.

Russell says the crash occurred just before 2 p.m. Thursday on a private runway. He says the pilot told authorities that a sudden rainstorm limited his visibility during takeoff and caused him to veer off the runway into the empty mobile home.

The Federal Aviation Administration Association is investigating.
