WEDDINGS: HEATHER LASHAE RHODES KERRY LYNDON NEWBURN

— Heather LaShae Rhodes and Kerry Lyndon Newburn were united in marriage at 6 p.m. Saturday, June 19, at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in North Little Rock. The Rev. O.C. Jones officiated.

Parents of the bride are Deborah and William Lamond Rhodes of Sherwood. She is the granddaughter of Flora B. and the late John Little, Clarence Rhodes and the late Josie Mae Barber, all of North Little Rock.

The bridegroom is the son of Linda Marie Fells Newburn of Little Rock and the Rev. Alvin Stanley Newburn of Arkadelphia. His grandparents are Maevelyn Lacey and Roosevelt Fells of Dumas, and the late Mary Jane and Joel Edward Newburn of Joan.

Nuptial music was by keyboardists Christopher Watkins and Rodney Cummings, saxophonist Jacques Courtney and drummer Dionte Watkins, and by gospel group Psalm 150.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a strapless white satin A-line gown and carried a cascade of white calla lilies.

Maid of honor was Demetria Kimbrough of Little Rock. Bridesmaids were Krystal Rhodes and Natalie Rhodes-Warren, both of Sherwood and sisters of the bride; Margie Henderson-Sims of North Little Rock; Arvye Davis of Maumelle; and Dominique Dumas of Chicago and Keleisha Brown of Sherwood, both cousins of the bride. Junior bridesmaids were Simone Yates of Memphis, cousin of the bride, and Jayela Courtney of Little Rock.

The attendants alternated red and champagne-colored gowns and carried bouquets of roses, lilies and peonies.

Flower girls were Candace Dillard of Memphis, cousin of the bride, and Raniyah Jackson of North Little Rock. Ring bearer was Cameron Dumas of Chicago, cousin of the bride, and Kelton Newburn of Houston, son of the bridegroom.

Best man was Jamie Williams of Little Rock. Groomsmen were Kourtney Nichols of Atlanta; Chris Jackson, Anthony Nichols, Don Howard andOrlando Newburn, brother of the bridegroom, all of Little Rock; and Derrick Warren of Sherwood. Junior groomsmen were Payton McFadden of Little Rock and Emmanuel Watson II of Chicago, cousins of the bride.

Guests were seated by Marcus Newburn of Maumelle, brother of the bridegroom; and Barry Jefferson, Baso Shelton and David Gober II, all of Little Rock.

A reception at the Greens at North Hills in Sherwood followed the ceremony.

The bride is a cum laude graduate of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff with a bachelor’s degree in biology. She received a master’s degree in public health from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and is school health coordinator for the North Little Rock School District.

The bridegroom attended UAMS and is a deputy for the Pulaski County sheriff’s office.

The couple will make their home in Jacksonville after a wedding trip to Orlando, Fla.
