WILTON — The Arkansas State Police said an accident in which a small airplane hit an empty mobile home in southwest Arkansas will not officially be considered a crash.
Senior Cpl. Roger Whitmire said pilot John Tackett was attempting to take off about 2:15 p.m. Thursday when heavy rain began falling and limited his vision. Whitmire said Tackett veered off the runway to the left and into the empty home.
He said it isn’t officially considered a crash because the plane had not left the ground.
Tackett was treated and released at an Ashdown hospital.
The Federal Aviation Administration is reviewing the accident.
