Timeline set for special election in Stone County

— A special election to fill the Democratic Party nominee vacancy for the office of Stone County sheriff has been set by Gov. Mike Beebe for Tuesday, Aug. 3.

On June 18, the Stone County Election Commission certified the results of the June 8 primary runoff as a tie between incumbent Todd Hudspeth and opponent Lance Bonds.

The filing period for candidacy, which began June 25, will end at noon Friday. The drawing for ballot positions will be Friday.

The winner of the Aug. 3 election will face Republican nominee William Russ Aiken in the November general election.
