Water Carnival to feature second White River’s Got Talent competition

— The White River’s Got Talent competition will kick off the 67th annual White River Water Carnival on Friday, Aug. 6, with a night of free family entertainment. This year’s contest has added a youth division.

Auditions are from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, and Thursday, July 15, at the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville. Contestant numbers will be assigned on a first-come, firstserved basis and will be limited to the first 30 acts each night.

Singers, musicians, dancers, magicians, comedians and other entertainers are invited to participate. The participants will be judged on stage presence and personality, talent presentation, entertainment factor and overall performance. Acts are limited to five members, and performances are limited to three minutes. People younger than 18must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian and must have parental permission to participate. No animal acts or dangerous stunts will be allowed.

Participants can pick up White River’s Got Talent applications and release forms at any First Community Bank location or online at www.firstcommunity.net. Applications can also be picked up at the Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce. Contestants should complete the forms and keep them until audition night.

From the audition scores, 10 finalists from the adult division and 10 from the youth division will be selected by a panel of judges to advance to the final competition. Finals will begin at 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6, at Riverside Park.
