Arrest made in weekend shooting

— A 25-year-old Little Rock man has been arrested in connection with the Saturday night shooting of a mother and daughter.

Torrance Caery was arrested Sunday on charges including two counts of first-degree battery. A judge set his bond at $175,000 during an appearance in Little Rock District Court Monday morning.

Caery is accused of going to 1205 W. 24th St., starting an argument with one of the residents and then pulling out a handgun.

Two of the residents, 50-year-old Shirley Green and 29-year-old Shimberly Green, fled the home but then tried to return inside as Caery followed them, police said.

He then began firing the gun, striking Shirley Green in the top of the head and Shimberly Green in the neck, according to a Little Rock Police Department news release.

Both victims were taken to UAMS Medical Center.

Caery was identified as a suspect and arrested late Sunday morning at 15th and Bishop Streets.
