Police beat

— 2 in NLR stabbed in nightclub fight

A man and a woman were taken to a hospital after each was stabbed in the chest at a nightclub in the McAlmont community east of North Little Rock early Sunday, a spokesman for the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office sheriff’s office said.

A witness told deputies the stabbings happened after Lieuxrita Green, 27, of Jacksonville, and another woman began fighting near the disc jockey stand at The Yard, a nightclub at 410 Primrose St., at about 1:30 a.m., sheriff’s office Lt. Carl Minden said.

During the fight, a man punched Green in the face several times, then gave a knife to the woman Green had been fighting with, the witness told deputies. That woman then stabbed Green in the chest, and the man pushed Green to the floor, the witness said.

James Ferrell, 20, of Little Rock attempted to intervene and was stabbed in the chest by the man who had punched Green, the witness told deputies.

Ferrell and Green were taken in a private vehicle to Baptist Health Medical Center in North Little Rock, Minden said. A hospital spokesman declined to provide information on their conditions Sunday. No arrests had been made late Sunday.

NLR man arrested

on drug charges

A North Little Rock man found with methamphetamine and prescription drugs in his car during a traffic stop Saturday faces an additional charge after police found two bags of marijuana in his “rear end,” according to an arrest report.

Jason Bert Wedgworth, 35, of 3723 Francis St. was arrested at the intersection of West Short 17th Street and Pike Avenue after officers pulled his vehicle over because it didn’t have a license plate, the report said.

When officers approached the car, they asked to search it, and Wedgworth gave permission, the report said. Officers then found 1.5 grams of methamphetamine, two “smoking pipes” and several pills of the anti-anxiety medicine Xanax and the narcotic painkiller Opana in a “blue plastic holder,” the report said.

Wedgworth was then arrested on charges of possession of a methamphetamine, possession of the prescription drug Opana, possession of Xanax and possession of drug parapheranalia, the report said.

After he was taken to a police substation, Wedgworth “retrieved two small bags of marijuana from his rear end,” the report said. He was then charged with possession of marijuana, the report said.

Wedgworth was being held Saturday evening at the Pulaski County jail in lieu of $70,500 bond.
