8 arrested in marijuana scheme

KENNETT, Mo. — Ten people from Missouri, Arkansas and Texas are facing federal indictment for conspiring to distribute a large amount of marijuana in southeast Missouri.

The Daily Dunklin Democrat newspaper in Kennett reports that eight of the 10 were arrested last week follow an 18-month investigation. The other two are still being sought.

The Dunklin County Sheriff’s Department says four of the 10 suspects are illegal immigrants.

Some of those arrested were also charged with distribution of methamphetamine.
