Inmate who left work-release arrested

— Hours after he walked away from his work-release job in Texarkana, a state prison inmate was arrested after he tried to break into a church on Monday evening, a spokesman for the Arkansas Department of Correction said.

Authorities began searching for Daniel Carr, a 20-year old inmate at the Texarkana Regional Correction Center, after he left his job at M&M Milling Inc. at lunchtime on Monday, Correction Department spokesman Dina Tyler said.

At 8:30 p.m., Texarkana police found Carr after he set off a burglar alarm at Cathedral Heights Church of the Nazarene in Texarkana, Tyler said. He was being held late Monday in the Bi-State Detention Center in Texarkana. Tyler said he would likely face charges of breaking and entering and second-degree escape.

Carr was sentenced in Stone County in 2008 to 15 years in prison for theft and commercial burglary, Tyler said. He would have been eligible for parole in August 2011.
