SUPERMARKET SLEUTH: Chinese bistro food for home kitchens

— P.F. Chang’s China Bistro recently debuted Home Menu, a line of frozen Asian entrees for two you can make in your kitchen. The selections are:

Orange Chicken made with white-meat chicken, a spicy orange sauce, carrots, water chestnuts and edamame.

Shanghai Style Beef with a sweet and savory sauce, onions, string beans and red bell peppers.

Sweet and Sour Chicken made with white-meat chicken, a sweet and tangy sauce, pineapple and bell peppers.

Ginger Chicken and Broccolimade with white-meat chicken, a ginger sauce, broccoli and red bell peppers.

Beef with Broccoli featuring beef with a savory soy garlic sauce and broccoli.

General Chang’s Chicken featuring white-meat chicken, a sweet chili sauce, broccoli and red peppers.

Shrimp in Garlic Sauce made with shrimp, garlic sauce, carrots, red bell peppers, water chestnuts and snap peas.

Shrimp Lo Mein featuring shrimp with a sesame soy sauce, bok choy, mushrooms, celery, carrots and lo mein noodles.

P.F. Chang’s Home Menu line should be found in the frozen entree section of most major supermarkets. They sellfor $6 to $9 per bag, depending on where you shop.

Kraft has added three flavors to its line of Deli Deluxe sliced cheese. Theflavors are Bacon Cheddar, Jalapeno American and 3 Cheese Garlic & Herb.

Look for them in your grocer’s dairy section, where a package of eight slices costs about $3.50.

Hunt’s has removed high fructose corn syrup from all of its products and reformulated its ketchup recipe, which is now made with only tomatoes, natural sugar, vinegar, salt, garlic and spices.
