Candidate filing comes to a close

Filing by candidates for political party nomination for state and federal offices closes at noon today.

In the latest filings in the state Capitol, state Sen. Gilbert Baker of Conway became a candidate for Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate, as did University of Arkansas employee Randy Alexander of Springdale.

In a filing for the U.S. House, Little Rock restaurant owner Scott Wallace filed as a Republican for the 2nd District seat being vacated by Congressman Vic Snyder of Little Rock.
