its way from the Clinton Presidential Center, across the Main Street Bridge and into North Little Rock’s Argenta Historic District for the Rock to North Little Rock St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The Arkansas Symphony Orchestra takes a trip to Catfish Row with a concert performance of George and Ira Gerswhin’s opera-musical Porgy & Bess, 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Robinson Center Music Hall, West Markham Street and Broadway, Little Rock. Bass-baritone Timothy Jones sings the role of Porgy with soprano Henrietta Davis as Bess, tenor Calvin Lee as Sportin’ Life and soprano Nura Myers Joplin as Clara, plus the voices of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Vesper Choir and the Philander Smith College Choir. Geoffrey Robson conducts. The concert is part of the orchestra’s Acxiom Pops Live! series. grand style with its annual Daffodil Festival, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday-Saturday. For active types, there are the 5K race, poker run, bike show, rock climbing walls and children’s activities. Guided tours of museums, antebellum homes, historical sites and costumed re-enactments will appeal to history buffs while garden tours show off the town’s flowers. Then there’s the Championship Steak Cook-Off. Activities will be centered in downtown Camden. There are admission fees for the tours and some activities, ranging from $5-$15.
