A woman who lives in the Taylor community southwest of Magnolia has been charged with two counts of capital murder in the smothering deaths of her two children last year.
Columbia County Deputy Prosecutor David Butler said the charges accuse Dawn Marie Wines of suffocating her two children.
Wines is currently being held by authorities in New Orleans after she was arrested at a residence in Luling, La. Butler said Wines has waived extradition, and deputies are making arrangements to return Wines to Columbia County where she is expected to make her first appearance next week.
A news release from the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office said no bond has been set for Wines “due to the severity of the crimes.”
