Users of the off-road trail system in the Ouachita National Forest near Mena hope they can persuade the U.S. Forest Service to keep the trail system intact.
ATV recreational drivers rallied Saturday at Mena in support of the trails.
The effort to keep the U.S. Forest Service from closing down many trails and restricting the use of others is also supported by several Mena business owners who say tourists visiting to use the trails bring a lot of money to the area.
A national forest plan woould severely restrict off-road vehicle access in the Wolf Pen Gap Trail System by closing 31 miles of loop trails, except on weekends and holidays between May 15 and Sept. 15.
