Morrison says no plans to back Halter or Lincoln

— The third Senate candidate who won 13 percent of the vote in Tuesday’s Democratic primary and forced a runoff between Sen. Blanche Lincoln and Lt. Gov. Bill Halter says he’s not endorsing either one of them.

Little Rock businessman D.C. Morrison said Thursday he thought he would do better than his third-place showing in Tuesday’s primary. Morrison surprised many by winning double digits in the primary and forcing a June 8 runoff between Halter and Lincoln.

Morrison said he’s not backing either Halter or Lincoln in the runoff battle.

Morrison ran as a conservative Democrat and had advocated a national sales tax to replace the federal income tax. He also had called President Barack Obama a socialist and called for the repeal of the federal health care overhaul.
