Witches Night Off conjures up very Wicked event with cast, crew

— You’ve been touring cross-county, have 16 shows in Little Rock in the second national tour of a popular Broadway show and it is your night off: What do you do? If you are the cast and crew of Wicked, you donate your time and talents to benefit Arkansas AIDS Foundation.

Wickedly Generous Ways, a Witches Night Off with the production’s cast and crew, was held Nov. 8 at Sway. The cabaret and live auction was hosted by Don Amendolia, who plays the Wizard of Oz, and Tory Ross, who plays the Midwife.

Several bidding wars erupted for the auction packages, which included backstage tours, house seats, autographed posters and other Wicked memorabilia. Brandy Upshaw of Little Rock won the “Live Greening” and was “greenified” onstage by Wicked’s chiefmakeup artist. The coveted auction item, a costumed walkon role in two scenes and a curtain call, went for $6,500.

The event was hosted by Sway, owned by Marcus Pinkney and Jason Wiest. Dr. Michael Cannon is Arkansas AIDS Foundation executive director and David Tucker is board president.
