WEDDINGS ANNAMARIE SLIKKER JOSHUA NATHAN MARTIN

— Wedding vows were exchanged by Annamarie Slikker and Joshua Nathan Martin at 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, in First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Michael Mattox, along with The Rev. John T. Martin Jr. of Emporia, Va., uncle of the bridegroom, officiated.

Parents of the bride are Cristine and Dr. William Slikker Jr., 60 Laval Circle. Her grandparents are Darlene Blozan of Carlsbad, Calif., and the late William Blozan, and the late William and Hazel Slikker of Bakersfield, Calif.

The bridegroom is the son of Jennifer Tufts of Northfield, Mass., and Dana Martin of Arlington, Va. He is the grandson of Rosalind and Nathan Tufts, also of Northfield, and Clara Lee and the late John T. Martin of Fort Lupton, Colo.

The chancel was decorated with a wreath of wheat and two urns of fall flowers. Music was by organist John Churchwell. Readings were by the grandfather of the bridegroom and Amy Barr, cousin of the bride.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a satin trumpet gown with cap sleeves, an Empire bodice and an overlay of ivory lace embellished with crystal and pearl beading. Pearls from her mother’s wedding gown decorated the chapel-length train. She carried a white and ivory cascade of hydrangeas, roses, tulipsand pepper berries.

Serving as the bride’s honor attendants were her brother, Dr. William Slikker III of Chicago, and Elizabeth Haley of North Little Rock. Bridesmaids were Heather Allmendinger of Little Rock; Amanda Arnott of Dallas; Theresa Conley of Westwood, Mass.; Jacqueline Lara of Silver Springs, Md.; and Yasmin Tavakoli of Washington.

The women wore strapless gowns of berry chiffon with shirred Empire bodices. They carried ivory flowers with beech and curly willow branches.

Flower girl was Aspen Martin of Springfield, Va., cousin of the bridegroom. Ring bearers were Jack Blozan of San Jose, Calif., cousin of the bride, and Denver Martin, also of Springfield, cousin of the bridegroom.

Best man was Benjamin Martin of Washington, brother of the bridegroom. Groomsmen were Hunter Biden, Andrew Dinsmore, and Brendan McNulty, all also of Washington; John Ege of Denver; Rob Forker of Boston; Ron Hawa of Reston, Va.; andBilly Schultz of Brooklyn, N.Y.

Guests were seated by Miguel Barbieri of West New York, N.J. and Peter Egge of Arlington.

A reception at the Clinton Presidential Center followed the ceremony. Tables in Restaurant Forty Two were decorated with antique votive candles and small vases with berries. The buffet in the Great Hall was decorated with an elevated arrangement of ivory wedding flowers, curly willow and ivory football chrysanthemums. Guest tables held similar arrangements. Music was by The Big John Miller Band.

The bride is a cum laude graduate of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, with a bachelor’s degreein history. She was vice president of membership and vice president of administration for Delta Delta Delta. She received a juris doctorate from the California Western School of Law in San Diego. She is a member of the California Bar and the District of Columbia Bar and is a research associate at the National Academy of Public Administration.

The bridegroom has a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Virginia at Charlottesville, Va., where he was a member of Chi Phi. He is director of client development at DDC Advocacy.

The couple will make their home in Arlington after a honeymoon in Antigua.
