LITTLE ROCK — BUCKEYE NATIONAL NATURE TRAIL
Location:
Parking for the trailhead is halfway up the paved road behind the visitors center just west of Greers Ferry Dam on Arkansas 25 in Heber Springs.
Length:
The short, paved trail is 660 feet long.
Main attractions:
Buckeye National Nature Trail is wheelchair accessible and offers a swell nature experience for those unable to negotiate the four more difficult hikes in the immediate area.
Side trip:
Also at the visitor center is the trailhead for the beautiful, but more rugged Mossy Bluff Trail, 1.6 miles round-trip.
Hazards:
None, really, but the pavement needed repair in places.
Amenities:
Parking at the trailhead.
Dog, bike, tyke friendly?
Keep the dogs on a leash, the bikes on the car and an eye on the smallest fry near the cliffs.
