Walmart to open pharmacy on UA campus

Wal-Mart will open a retail pharmacy on the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville campus in January that will be open to everyone in the area, not just those at the college.

The Walmart on Campus will replace the Pat Walker Health Care Pharmacy, which is closing Dec. 20 after nearly 16 years of serving students on campus.

The new pharmacy at Garland Avenue Shops will have extended hours and also include some groceries and other items.

“The Pat Walker Health Center anticipates a close working relationship with the Walmart on Campus,” said Mary Alice Serafini, executive director of the Pat Walker Health Center. “We believe that the new retail pharmacy will serve our community well with extended hours, access to most prescription insurance plans and close proximity to our health center facility and many on-campus residents.”
