2 killed as fire crew truck, car crash north of LA

Authorities say one inmate and one other person have been killed and eight others injured as a truck carrying a state prison firefighting crew was involved in a crash with a passenger vehicle in northern Los Angeles County.

County fire Capt. Sam Padilla says the truck and the other vehicle crashed Tuesday on a road near Interstate 5 south of Gorman.

He says three of the injured are in critical condition. It is not immediately clear whether the injured are from one vehicle or both.

Sheriff’s spokeswoman Lilian Peck says the firefighters are inmates from a state prison, but she does not know which one.
