Man shot after attacking woman in Garland County

— A 27-year-old man was shot in the leg early Tuesday morning when he showed up at a Garland County residence and began attacking and threatening a woman there, authorities said.

Deputies with the Garland County Sheriff's Office say it's unclear why Matthew Hartman went to 265 Ashbrook Lane and began assaulting 48-year-old Faith Cleveland. It happened shortly after 2:30 a.m.

Cleveland's husband, Ernest Cleveland, retrieved a shotgun during the attack and then shot Hartman in the left leg, causing minor injuries, according to a news release. Hartman was transported to the hospital, but no information on his condition was immediately known.

No arrests have been made, but police say the case will be forwarded to the prosecutor for review once the investigation is complete.

Hartman appeared to be under the influence of narcotics and was acting irrationally during the incident, police said.
