Two killed in Mississippi County wreck

— A driver and a passenger were killed early Wednesday when the car they were in drove through a stop sign and into the path of an oncoming pickup, authorities said.

It happened just before 5 a.m. as Carolin H. Oliver, 66, was driving a Hyundai Sonata south on Highway 119 in Leachville.

According to an Arkansas State Police fatality report, Oliver failed to yield at the stop sign at Highway 18 and pulled into the path of an eastbound Chevy pickup driven by 49-year-old Ronald G. Holt.

Oliver and passenger Christeen Littlefield, 83, died from unspecified injuries suffered in the wreck. Holt was taken to St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro, where his condition was not immediately known.
