Myriad of choices

— Many plants exhibit celebratory colors: amaryllis bulbs, anthurium, azaleas, cyclamen, gerbera daisies, holiday cactus, Kalanchoe, orchids and paperwhites. Norfolk Island pines, bromeliads and topiary rosemary bushes pruned as wreaths or miniature Christmas trees are also suitable. Some tips:

Rosemary is not a fan of indoor conditions, so let these plants grace your front door.

Some of these plants will make long-lasting gifts and can re-bloom annually with care.

Amaryllis bulbs, orchids and the Christmas cactus plants can live for years, while the poinsettias, paperwhite Narcissus and cyclamen should be tossed once they have lost their show. Although it is possible to make all plants re-bloom, for some it just isn’t worth the effort.
