FUNDRAISING FUN: Philanthropists who gave receive their just desserts

— The Arkansas Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals held its National Philanthropy Day Awards Luncheon on Nov. 17 at Embassy Suites in Little Rock. Background music was provided by the Arkansas Symphony Quartet.

Meredith Poland, chapter president, welcomed guests to the luncheon, which was hosted by news anchor Craig O’Neill of KTHV, Channel 11. Honorees for the day included Grace and John Steuri, receiving the Outstanding Philanthropist award; J. Thomas “Tommy” May, Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser; Melissa Stiles, Outstanding Fundraising Professional; Kye Angelo Masino, Outstanding Volunteer Youth Fundraiser; Little Rock Firefighters Local 34, Outstanding Philanthropic Organization; Chesapeake Energy Corp., Outstanding Philanthropic Corporation; and Sue S. Williamson, who received the President’s Award for Lifetime Achievement.

Highlighting the event was the surprise announcement that Williamson had been named International Fundraising Professional of the Year.
