— Maya Moore scored 26 points and top-ranked Connecticut won for the 84th consecutive time, beating LSU 81-51 Sunday.

Tiffany Hayes had 20 points and seven assists and Bria Hartly added 15 points for the Huskies (6-0), who broke open what had been a 10-point game with a 12-2 run to start the second half.

LaSondra Barrett had 12 points, all in the first half, and Adrienne Webb added 11 for LSU. The Tigers (4-4) finished this tournament 2-1.

The Huskies need four victories to tie the Division I record of 88 consecutive set by UCLA’s men in the early 1970s.

In other games, Hannah Tuomi scored 16 points, freshman Jasmine Lister had 15, and No. 24 Vanderbilt beat Princeton 74-68 to win its Thanksgiving Tournament in Nashville. Tiffany Clarke added 12 points for the Commodores (4-1), who are undefeated in the 12 years of the tournament. Niveen Rasheed scored 15 and Lauren Edwards had 14 for Princeton.

NO. 2 MICHIGAN STATE 73, TENNESSEE TECH 55

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Durrell Summers scored 21 points, and No. 2 Michigan State warmed up for its showdown with top-ranked Duke with a victory over Tennessee Tech on Sunday.

The Spartans (5-1) will surely drop in the rankings before taking on the Blue Devils at Cameron Indoor Stadium on Wednesday night. Michigan State lost to Connecticut earlier this week at the Maui Invitational, although the Spartans bounced back with a victory over Washington.

They also had little trouble with the Ohio Valley Conference’s Tennessee Tech (0-3), which was happy to get a game in. after having its home opener canceled when visiting Appalachian State failed to supply officials for the game.

TEXAS A&M 54, NO. 21 TEMPLE 51

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. - David Loubeau scored 13 points, Naji Hibbert added 12 and Texas A&M beat the No. 21 Owls in the consolation bracket of the Old Spice Classic.

Texas A&M (5-1) went ahead 52-51 when B.J. Holmes scored off a rebound with 18.5 seconds left. Temple (3-2) had gone up 51-50 when Ramone Moore made two free throws with just under a minute remaining.

After Temple’s Juan Fernandez missed an open late jumper, Khris Middleton made it 54-51 by hitting two free throws with 2.3 seconds to go.

Fernandez and Lavoy Allen had 10 points apiece for Temple, which lost its opening game of the tournament to California 57-50 Thursday. One day later the Owls beat Georgia 65-58.

NO. 25 NORTH CAROLINA 74, COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON 69

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - John Henson scored a career-high 19 points and ignited the decisive second-half run.

Henson also had seven rebounds and two blocked shots for the Tar Heels (4-2), who rallied from a five-point deficit midway through the second half to win their second consecutive game.

North Carolina had all kinds of trouble avenging last year’s overtime loss to the Cougars (4-3), who never let the Tar Heels put away the game after they finally went back ahead.

The Tar Heels, who led by just a point at halftime, shot 53 percent after the break.

Andrew Goudelock scored 28 points to lead College of Charleston, which hit nine 3-pointers but missed plenty of good looks in the second half.
