Warner’s 30-minute DVD gets to pain in short order

— Jackie. Oh.

Actually, it’s Jackie W. As in Warner. As in don’t say I didn’t warn you.

She’s tough.

Think 30 minutes is a cakewalk? Think again.

Warner, who’s a celebrity trainer and a celebrity in her own right, seems to pride herself on being tough. And she lives up to her reputation.

Her latest DVD, Personal Training With Jackie: Xtreme Timesaver Training ($14.98 from Anchor Bay Entertainment) promises to pack two workouts into one. The 30-minute workout includes weightlifting and moves that raise the heart rate.

She calls her exercises “compound moves” because they target multiple muscle groups. In other words, you’ll be doing more, and you’ll be doing it at the same time.

Warner says in the introduction that most people’s No. 1 excuse to skip exercise is a lack of time. Couch potatoes who try her workout might instead carve out 60 minutes for a nice brisk walk the next time they want to exercise.

Warner does the workout with two other exercisers. One of the exercisers uses weights, the other doesn’t. Warner does a lot of coaching and flitting between the two exercisers and teasing exercisers at home - “Wouldn’t you just love me to be over there correcting your form and touching you?”

Correcting and touching aside, it’s pretty apparent she gets plenty of gym time.

Warner’s moves require balance, strength and stamina. Each set is done for a minute. The DVD includes a warmup and cool-down as well as sessions for the “glutes and shoulders,” “quads and arms,” “hips, chest and back” and “functional core and more.”

Get ready to hold a squat or lunge while lifting your arms overhead, or doing a chest fly. She includes punches and kicks, sometimes at the same time. A biceps curl will be performed holding, once again, a squat. And there are moves similar to an old-school mountain climber, in which you bend at the hips, place your hands on the ground, crawl all the way out to your full length, do a push-up, crawl back, lift those weights overhead, put them down, repeat ... yes, we were tired, too.

Her core workout includes lots of twists, knee raises, lunges, and even the biceps are roped in.

Even Warner knows it’s a lot. When the women behind her are already breathing heavily during the warm-up, Warner says, “You’re in for a world of pain today, man.”

Oh, Jackie.
