Pangburn police chief: Mayor wants resignations

— The police chief in the White County town of Pangburn says the recently re-elected mayor has asked him and the town’s two other police officers to resign.

Police Chief Harold Glenn told The Daily Citizen that Mayor James Williams called him Sunday and requested resignations from him, Sgt. Randal Glenn and Capt. Eric Patterson. The police chief and Randal Glenn are brothers.

Harold Glenn said the mayor told him he was upset that Patterson had used a wrecker service that he had forbidden the department from using — but offered no other reason.

Williams declined comment.

The three officers each say they will not resign.

Chief Glenn lost a run-off for mayor against Williams on Nov. 23. Glenn said Williams asked him to run for mayor before deciding to seek re-election
