Two killed in Sunday morning traffic accidents

— Two people were killed in separate traffic crashes Sunday morning in Arkansas, according to preliminary fatality reports from the Arkansas State Police.

Samantha J. Langston, 23, was killed in the first wreck, which happened about 1:45 a.m. just south of the University of Arkansas campus in Fayetteville.

According to a report on that accident, Langston was a passenger on a Suzuki motorcycle that grazed a curb on Razorback Road and veered out of control. She and 23-year-old Jeffery C. Powers were both ejected from the vehicle.

Powers was taken to Washington Regional Medical Center with unspecified injuries.

The second fatal wreck occurred just before 3:30 a.m. in Woodruff County as 22-year-old Tromar Earls drove a Chevy Corvette south on Highway 49 north of Hunter.

According to the state police report, the Corvette struck a bridge railing, went off the road and crashed into a canal. It reportedly overturned several times and ejected Earls and passenger Brandon Ferrell, 20.

Both occupants were both transported to the Forrest City Medical Center, where Earls was pronounced dead. No information on Ferrell's injuries was included in the report.

The deaths were the 393rd and 394th in Arkansas so far this year, according to preliminary numbers.
