— The retrial of a Smackover man who was convicted of capital murder for a woman’s slaying in 2005 is set to start.

Jury selection was to begin Tuesday in the trial of 30-year-old James William Wedgeworth, who is charged with killing 31-year-old Meagan Harbison.

Wedgeworth was sentenced in 2006 to life in prison after a jury convicted him of capital murder. But the Arkansas Supreme Court ruled in 2008 that El Dorado police illegally obtained Wedgeworth’s confession. Wedgeworth was questioned after he requested an attorney.

The El Dorado News-Times reports that jury selection is expected to consume the first day and that the trial is scheduled to take all week.
