A member of the University of Central Arkansas Board of Trustees says his testimony to a federal grand jury has been delayed by at least a day.
Rush Harding III of Little Rock, a board member of the Conway school for 20 years, told the Log Cabin Democrat newspaper of Conway he was notified Tuesday by the U.S. attorney’s office not to appear that day at the federal courthouse in Little Rock where the the panel is meeting.
A subpoena summoning Harding to testify had originally ordered him to appear on Tuesday. He said he was told to expect a call Wednesday to let him know if he should appear that day.
Last week, Harding said a lawyer in the U.S. attorney’s office told him the panel wanted to hear testimony “on my knowledge of events during the final months of Lu Hardin’s tenure as president.”
After six years as UCA president, Hardin resigned on Aug. 28, 2008, after months of contention following disclosure that the UCA board had secretly awarded him a $300,000 bonus.
