— Q: What is your worst travel mishap?

A: Coming home from Phoenix one Christmas, it started snowing in Flagstaff, Ariz., which was the first thing to slow traffic down. Then all traffic on Interstate 40 in New Mexico was stopped for sobriety tests on drivers of all vehicles. This was followed by one of our tires blowing out in the desert of New Mexico, which was covered in a foot of snow. Finally, we drove 1,100 miles on a doughnut tire doing 80 mph.

A: I’ve been to Japan, Australia and all over South America, but my worst travel mishap was when I went to D.C. a few weeks ago. When I arrived, my luggage was not there. It was put on the next flight and finally arrived at the hotel at midnight. At least it got there. Then on the way back, we were delayed because of a mechanical problem. I wound up getting in to Conway close to 2 a.m. I complained about it, but it could have been a lot worse.
