LITTLE ROCK — Arkansas' unemployment rate rose to 7.5 percent in August, from 7.4 percent in July, the state's Department of Workforce Services reported Tuesday.
Nonfarm payroll employment in August fell by 3,400 compared with July, but was up 3,100 compared with August 2009. The U.S. unemployment rate in August rose to 9.6 percent in August, up from 9.5 percent in July.
