Body of Texas man recovered as rain finally eases

Authorities have found the body of a driver swept away in floodwaters after storms dumped more than 10 inches of rain along the Texas coast.

Corpus Christi police on Tuesday recovered the body of a 36-year-old who had dialed 911 for help Monday after driving into Oso Creek. Three days of relentless rain swelled the waterway to nearly 31 feet, breaking the previous record set by Hurricane Alex in 1980.

Forecasters said the worst of the rain that was partly brought by Hurricane Karl is over. Schools resumed classes Tuesday after high water flooded some bus routes, and families returned home after seeking shelter.

Authorities identified the missing driver as Kelechi Kinsley Nwogu.
