$1.2M federal grant to aid Ark. medical school

— Members of Congress from Arkansas say the state’s medical school is to get a $1.2 million grant to help pay for training doctors.

The announcement came Wednesday in a joint news release from the offices of Sens. Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor and Reps. Marion Berry, Vic Snyder) and Mike Ross, all D-Ark.

The release said the money from the federal Department of Health and Human Services would provide funds to train resident physicians how to treat patients with chronic diseases and educate medical students on working in the primary-care field.
