— THE ORIGINAL HOMEWORK BOX

What is it:

A container to corral the papers, worksheets and tools that kids need to get their homework done. Comes with ruler, stapler and staples, tape and tape dispenser, glue stick, pencils, pencil sharpener and scissors. Big enough to hold a stack of schoolwork, too.

What’s so great about it:

What kids probably don’t realizeis parents dread homework too. They dread the battle of wills, the gnashing of teeth, the moaning and groaning, and they dread searching through the junk drawer for a ruler or a pencil or both. The Original HomeWork Box puts the onus on the kid. Make sure the caddy stays stocked with supplies and let junior take responsibility for his own work.

What could they have done better:

Not a big deal really, but they should have included one of those big pink erasers. Every parent knows the tiny ones on pencils don’t last aslong as the writing end. They are just no match for a kid determined to start over again on her spelling words. So throw in your own eraser. There’s plenty of room for it and any other gizmo that will help bring the dreaded homework hour (or two or three) to a close sooner.
