3 on finalists list for agriculture post

— Three people have been named finalists for the job of vice president for agriculture at the University of Arkansas System.

The vice president would lead the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture.

The finalists are:

Mark J. Cochran, associate vice president for research and director of the Arkansas Agricultural Experiment Station for the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture.

D.C. Coston, vice president for agriculture and university extension at North Dakota State University.

William B. Richardson, chancellor of the Louisiana State University Agricultural Center.

The UA Division of Agriculture coordinates an integrated program for agriculture education, research and extension throughout the state. The division has two principal units - the Agricultural Experiment Station and the Cooperative Extension Service.

An advisory search committee of faculty and staff members of the Division of Agriculture and representatives from the Arkansas agricultural communityrecommended the finalists.

Each finalist will visit Little Rock and Fayetteville in October. They will be interviewed by UA System administrators, Division of Agriculture faculty and staff members, and representatives from the Arkansas agriculture community.

Milo J. Shult, the current vice president, announced his retirement earlier this year. Shult served 18 years in the position.
