Swap Meet

PETIT JEAN MOUNTAIN — Antique-auto enthusiasts will return to Petit Jean Mountain for the 13th annual Fall Antique Auto Swap Meet. Hundreds of antique, classic and special-interest automobiles will be featured for sale. In addition, more than 600 spaces are available for parts, supplies, books, memorabilia and numerous other hobby-related items. There will also be a section for arts and crafts and flea-market items. The Military Vehicle Rally will feature more than 50 restored vehicles of all sizes. Also, driving and individual activities will be conducted Friday and Saturday. All activities are open to the public, and admission is free. Proceeds from the event will support The Museum of Automobiles, a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization. Bicycling Session

CONWAY — Conway Advocates for Bicycling will host a bicycling educational session from 7-8 p.m. in the Social Room of Buffalo Alumni Hall at the University of Central Arkansas, at the corner of Bruce and Farris. The presentation will include information on how to find a proper route, how to ride safely with children and a child’s-eye-view video of what it is like to ride across Conway. CAB is a nonprofit organization working to promote bicycling in Conway and in surrounding communities in Faulkner County. CAB hosts four bicycling socials and four educational sessions per year that are free and open to the public. Mars Lecture

CONWAY — Peter Smith will present “The Next Phase of Martian Exploration: The Search for Life” at 5 p.m. in the Mills Social Science Center, Room B, at Hendrix College. The lecture is open to the public. A reception will follow in the Mills Library. The program is sponsored by the Phi Beta Kappa Visiting Scholar Program. Smith, a professor at the University of Arizona Lunar and Planetary Laboratory, was awarded the American Geographical Society’s prestigious Cullum Geographical Medal and NASA’s Exceptional Scientific Achievement Medal and has participated in many of NASA’s space missions. His association with Mars began in 1993 when NASA accepted his camera proposal for the Pathfinder mission. He was principal investigator of the Phoenix mission, which landed a spacecraft on Mars in the spring of 2008 and whose cameras have relayed more than 25,000 pictures.

Memories Day

DOVER — This year’s Ozark Memories Day, the 32nd annual festival, will start at 9:30 a.m. Sponsored by the Dover Area Chamber of Commerce, the festival will be on the grounds of Dover High School. A parade will line up starting at 9:30 a.m. west of the football field on the school campus and, beginning at 10, will wind through the city of Dover and end at the festival site in front of the high school gymnasium. Fish Fry

RUSSELLVILLE — Happy Valley Assembly of God will celebrate its 38th annual Clifton Duvall Fish Fry at 5 p.m. The tradition began in 1972 to celebrate the paving of Arkansas 326 and continues every year as a way to bring the community together. The meal will be fish and chicken, hush puppies, french fries, coleslaw and dessert. The meal is free to all, but no take-outs will be available. The church is at 4060 Highway 326 in Russellville. Gospel Concert

CONWAY — Greater Fellowship Ministries of Conway will present “The Meeting of the Minds” gospel concert at 6 p.m. in the James H. Clark Auditorium at Conway High School. The event will feature the University of Arkansas Inspirational Singers of Fayetteville and several other Arkansas state colleges’ gospel choirs, local church choirs and praise teams. Craft Fair

GREENBRIER — The sixth annual Greenbrier Arts and Crafts Fair will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the City Event Center in Greenbrier. There will be a variety of vendors, door prizes and activities for kids. Come shop for seasonal decorations, jewelry, wall art, home-baked goods, candles and more. Admission is $1. Golf Tournament

FAIRFIELD BAY — The Holiday Hills United Methodist Men will sponsor the Feed the Hungry golf tournament, a four-person scramble, set to begin with a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. at the Indian Hills Golf Course in Fairfield Bay. The entry fee is $50 per person, and the fee includes a cart. Beverage carts will be on the course, and lunch will be provided before the tournament. Mount Nebo Pageant

DARDANELLE — The Miss Mount Nebo Pageant will be Saturday at the Dardanelle Community Center. The pageant is open to all girls in the state of Arkansas, ages 5-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-16 and 17-21. The cost is $35 with an extra $10 if the contestant wants to participate in the Miss Photogenic Contest. Entry forms are available at the Dardanelle Community Center or at www.dardanellechamber.com.

Prostate Screening

CONWAY — Conway physicians, nurses and technical staff; Conway High School Med Pro students; CARTI staff; and community volunteers will present information on and screen area men for prostate cancer from 4-7 p.m. at Conway Regional Medical Center. Urologists James France, M.D., and Jeff Marotte, M.D.; Thomas Reid, M.D., a hematology/oncologist; Bryan Imamura, M.D., radiation oncology; Gil Johnson, M.D., family practice; and Shawn Brewer, APN, have volunteered to conduct the ninth annual free prostate-cancer screening. The screening is sponsored by Conway Regional, Conway Urology Clinic, CARTI and the Arkansas Prostate Cancer Foundation. Appointments are being taken and can be made by calling Lori Reynolds, RN, Cancer Program coordinator, at (501) 513-5858 through Friday. The screening will include a 15-minute prostate-education presentation, a prostate-specific antigen blood test and a digital rectal exam.
