LITTLE ROCK — A small earthquake rattled part of Faulkner County Thursday morning, the latest in a series of minor temblors reported in the area over the last several months.
The 2.1-magnitude quake was reported about 5:40 a.m. with an epicenter 15 miles north-northeast of Conway and 35 miles west of Searcy. It had a depth of 3.5 miles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
Authorities in Faulkner County said they did not receive any calls about the minor shaking.
Series of small earthquakes in and around the area have been reported for months, with geologists installing sensors in the area to better understand the shaking. Officials have said the cause is unclear, but that it is probably not related to natural gas drilling in the area.
