Delay for man charged in killing at police station

— A man accused of murdering a romantic rival in the parking lot of the Conway police station has been granted more time to collect evidence for his trial.

The Log Cabin Democrat in Conway reports that 22-year-old Cortez Waller was to have been before a judge Thursday but was granted a request to push the hearing to Nov. 10.

Waller is charged with first-degree murder in the July 15 shooting of 32-year-old Christopher Childress. Police say Childress followed Waller to the police department and confronted him in the Front Street parking lot, shooting him dead.

Police say Childress’ fiance had a relationship with Waller.
