Girl, 17, abducted in Ark. turns up in Texas, police say

Police say a 17-year-old Arkansas girl abducted by a former boyfriend from a Walmart parking lot has turned up safe in east Texas.

Authorities say the girl was abducted Thursday in Dardanelle, then several hours later walked into a convenience store and asked to call her parents in New Boston, Texas, which is about 25 miles west of Texarkana.

Dardanelle police say the ex-boyfriend, 22-year-old Nicholas V. Pfeifer, surrendered Thursday night to police in Mount Pleasant, Texas, about 40 miles west of New Boston.

An arrest affidavit says Pfeifer broke into the girl’s home, then went to the Walmart and was seen forcing her into his truck. It says he’s accused of kidnapping, burglary and third-degree assault.

He’s being held in Texas as he awaits extradition.
