JASPER — A judge in Newton County has granted a delay in the trial of a woman accused of murdering her boyfriend so the defense can summon an expert on battered women’s syndrome.
The Harrison Daily Times reports that trial for 36-year-old Kerry Breedlove was to have begun Thursday but Circuit Judge Gordon Webb moved the start to March 17.
Breedlove is charged with first-degree murder for the December shooting death of 39-year-old Shannon Price.
Breedlove has been held at the Newton County Jail since she called sheriff’s deputies and told them of the shooting.
