Police to perch on doughnut shop roof for charity

— Law enforcement agencies in Little Rock and surrounding areas will take to the roof of a local doughnut shop during a charity drive for Special Olympics.

Police officers from agencies in North Little Rock, Little Rock, Sherwood, Maumelle, White County and Pulaski County were scheduled to begin the drive at 6 a.m. Friday at Krispy Kreme Donuts, 1335 Shackleford Road.

The officers will remain on the roof seeking donations until 6 p.m. and will return for another 12-hour shift atop the doughnut shop at 6 a.m. Saturday.

Money raised will help Special Olympics Arkansas provide year-round training to the 14,000 athletes who participate each year, according to a news release.
