Ill. anti-war activists targeted by FBI speak out

Two anti-war activists say a search of their Chicago home by the FBI was an attempt to intimidate them and silence the peace movement.

Joe Iosbaker (EYE’-so-baker) and his wife, Stephanie Weiner, spoke to reporters Saturday surrounded by dozens of supporters.

They say the government targeted them because they’ve been outspoken against the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and U.S. funding of conflicts abroad.

Both said the raid wouldn’t stop them from speaking out. They denied any wrongdoing.

Search warrants suggest the FBI was looking for connections between anti-war activists in Chicago and Minnesota and groups in Colombia and the Middle East.

Isobaker and Weiner wouldn’t discuss their relationship to groups abroad, citing their upcoming testimony before a grand jury.
