With the gift of a servant’s heart, Vonnie loved taking care of the sick and making rounds to Grapevine, Texas-area nursing homes with Dr. Lancaster’s practice. After 19 years, she retired from her nursing career and moved to Lubbock, Texas, in 1991 to live close to her daughter and her family. She lived her final years in Arkansas near her son and his family. Vonnie was a member of Southcrest Baptist Church in Lubbock, Texas.
