— 1st Quarter

ARKANSAS 7, ALABAMA 7

Arkansas probably couldn’t have asked for a better start: Ryan Mallett to Jarius Wright for 31 yards and to Ronnie Wingo for a 43-yard touchdown.

Arkansas’ Isaac Madison missed a chance for an interception. Alabama went 80 yards on its second series, with Mark Ingram running for a 54-yard touchdown. Arkansas responded with a 4:39 drive for a 31-yard Zach Hocker field goal. Ray Dominguez pounced on a D.J. Williams fumble at the Alabama 19 to keep the drive alive. Tenarius Wright dislodged the ball from Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy, but Lavunce Askew couldn’t secure it before it went out of bounds. The Tide converted a third-and-12 into Arkansas territory just before the quarter ended.

2nd Quarter

ARKANSAS 17, ALABAMA 7

Rudell Crim and Anthony Leon made a key stop on tight end Michael Williams for 2 yards on third-and-3, and Alabama punted. Passes to Jarius Wright and Greg Childs put Arkansas at the Alabama 6, but Ryan Mallett threw an interception in the end zone. Alabama drove to the Hogs’ 6, but Andru Stewart picked off Greg McElroy in the end zone. Crim’s interception on Arkansas’ 34 moved the Hogs into the two-minute drill. D.J. Williams and Wright made key receptions, and Knile Davis had 2 carries for 23 yards, the last to the Alabama 1 with 18 seconds left. Mallett sneaked over for the 1-yard score. Trent Richardson got loose on the last snap of the half, but Ramon Broadway and Jerry Franklin pushed him out at the Hogs’ 13.

3rd Quarter

ARKANSAS 20, ALABAMA 14

Jake Bequette beat left tackle James Carpenter and sacked Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy for a 5-yard loss on third-and-9 to end the first sequence. Arkansas used up 6:32 and Ryan Mallett threw 18-yard completions to D.J. Williams, Jarius Wright, and Joe Adams to move to the Alabama 20.

Adams’ catch came on a fourth-and-2.

The Hogs had to settle for a 48-yard Zach Hocker field goal to go up 20-7.

Alabama burned 4:20 off the clock on its next sequence. Mark Ingram ran 4 times for 38 yards on the series, which was capped by McElroy’s flip to Trent Richardson for a 20-yard touchdown with 44 seconds left. Knile Davis ran for 9 and 6 yards for an Arkansas first down to end the quarter.

4th Quarter

ALABAMA 24, ARKANSAS 20

The third snap of the quarter was a game-changer. Ryan Mallett’s threw over the middle for Joe Adams on thirdand-7 and Alabama corner DeQuan Menzie made contact before the ball arrived, but was not flagged. Alabama chewed up 8:15 and converted three third downs to pull within 20-17 on Jeremy Shelley’s 36-yard field goal.

Robert Lester intercepted Mallett on third down and returned to the Arkansas 12.

Mark Ingram scored from the 1 three plays later. The Hogs drove into Alabama territory in their two-minute drill, but Mallett’s throwaway pass didn’t get out of bounds, and Dre Kirkpatrick picked it off at the Tide 35. Greg McElroy converted a quarterback sneak on fourth-and-1 to clinch the victory.
